diVine uses the Nostr protocol to authenticate users and distribute content across a network of independent relays. Nostr (which stands for: Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays) is an open protocol for decentralized, censorship-resistant social communication.
Nostr Accounts
Nostr accounts are simple public/private key pairs — no email or phone number required. When you create a Nostr account, a public and private key will be generated for you.
|
Unlike a password, there is no way to recover, or change your private key, so it is extremely important to save this private key in a safe place and never share it with anyone. We strongly recommend using a password manager, writing down your key safely, or using Keycast. |
In Nostr, every user is represented by a secret number called a "key" and every message, post or note, carries a digital "signature" that proves its authorship and authenticity without the need for any authority to say so. Clients, like the diVine mobile and web apps, manage the channels (relays) through which they share and consume notes. This foundation of trust enables the decentralized broadcasting of information.
